The role of a video graphics editor at the Washington Post encompasses the work of a motion designer, journalist, producer, and video editor. Our work ranges from original animated storytelling, to animation inlaid into digital presentations, to custom motion graphics embedded in Washington Post videos.

Produce, report and edit original animated videos for use on The Washington Post’s website, YouTube and social media channels.

Turn around breaking news graphic requests quickly and efficiently, while maintaining the high standards expected of The Washington Post.

Collaborate inside the newsroom through design and animation for digital presentations.

Provide support with implementation of department-wide motion graphics templates.

Implement new storytelling mediums foreign to the Washington Post like stop-motion, including character design, animation, and post-production clean-up.

Create branding for a variety of Washington Post video series.

Associate Video Producer, Politico, 2015-17

The primary duty expected of an associate video producer at Politico during my tenure focused on breaking news coverage of the 2016 election.

Collaborated with a team of video editors to create original content for Politico’s website and various social platforms.

Suggested and developed a consistent brand strategy to enhance Politico video’s identity.

Advance production of shareable video content to fit specific social handles as well as create social GIFs for election results and breaking news.

Co-produced a sponsored series on the future of health in the United States, acting as both producer and editor.

Edited Politico’s Playback, a daily series of aggregated clips from the previous night’s late-night television broadcasts.

Operated cameras, audio and lighting equipment for interviews.
